OKLAHOMA – An Oklahoma boy has been dubbed a hero after keeping calm in a scary situation.

Today, 5-year-old Taron Butler received a medal for being an EMSA Everyday Hero.

Earlier this week, Taron’s mother Deanna collapsed in their home in Piedmont.

While Taron’s mom was lying there unconscious, Taron kept calm.

He dialed his grandmother and said his mother needed help quick.

That call prompted EMSA medic, Matt Erickson and fellow first responders to get his mother’s side and save her life.

EMSA medics say “Great work Taron! Your composure and quick-thinking makes you an EMSA Everyday Hero.”
