Baby born at an elementary school

PASADENA, Tex. – A Texas mother was so determined to get her 4-year-old son into Pre-K, she went to register him while in labor.

The mother ended up giving birth at the elementary school.

Vanessa DeLeon gave birth to her fourth son, Geovanni, while waiting in line to register his older brother for Pre-K classes at the Houston area elementary school.

“It was very important because he wasn’t going to have space — any more space available to him and it’s very important for him to go to school,” Vanessa DeLeon.

She thought she’d just drop off his application and head straight to the hospital, but she didn’t make it out the front door.

Baby Geovanni couldn’t wait.

So, she went to the school nurse’s office, until emergency crews could get there.

“I’m trying to get on my gloves and I look and the baby is crowning.  So I threw the box down.  I’ve got the phone here and I see the baby, and I had no choice. Mom pushed and we pulled the baby out,” Ashley Morris, School Nurse.

Geovanni was delivered before an ambulance could arrive, all 6 pounds, 3 ounces of him.

They swaddled the baby in school t-shirts because there were no towels available.

Mom and baby went to the hospital and are doing fine.

By the way, she also successfully registered her 4-year-old son before his brother was born.
