Boil Order: Oklahoma town told to boil water after E. coli discovered

NEWKIRK, Okla. – Residents in one Oklahoma town are being asked to boil water because of the threat of E. coli.

City leaders are telling residents in Newkirk to boil water before using it because a water sample from a drinking water well tested positive for the bacteria.

The Department of Environmental Quality required the city to issue a boil advisory.

Officials say you should bring the water to a full boil for at least a minute before using it.

The advisory will remain in effect until further notice and no other communities are affected by the order.
