Officials warn Oklahoma drivers could experience delays in the next few weeks
OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma motorists may run into a few delays when traveling home on particular roadways.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation is warning drivers of construction projects happening around the city.
Here is a list of projects that could interfere with your commute:
The westbound I-44 on-ramp from N.W. 36th St. and the right lane of westbound I-44 between
N.W. 39th St./SH-66 and N.W. 36th St. will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for guardrail repair.
Westbound I-44 will be narrowed west of May Ave. on the ramp over SH-74 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday for guardrail repair.
The westbound I-240 off-ramp to westbound I-44 will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday for guardrail repair.
The westbound I-40 on-ramp from SH-4/Mustang Rd. will be closed through September as part of on-going construction at the interchange. The westbound I-40 on-ramp from N.W. 10th St. is now open.
All lanes of east and westbound I-240 will be intermittently narrowed just west of Sunnyland Rd. from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday for routine traffic sensor installation.
The right lane of southbound I-35 will be closed between 15th St. and 33rd St. in Edmond from 7 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday and again 7 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday for concrete repair.
The right lane of westbound I-40 will be closed at Harrah/Newalla Rd. daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for shoulder repairs.
The northbound I-35 on-ramp from Lindsey St. in Norman will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for surface repairs.
On-going Construction Projects:
36th Ave. S.E. closed, John Saxon Blvd. shifted, streets narrowed at SH-9 in Norman through August
North and southbound 36th Ave. S.E. is closed south of SH-9 through August as part of an ongoing reconstruction project. Drivers must locate an alternate route. John Saxon Blvd. traffic is also shifted at SH-9 during this time.
The following city streets are also affected through August:
• North and southbound 24th Ave. S.E. narrowed to one lane
• North and southbound Technology Dr. narrowed to one lane
SH-9 remains narrowed east of US-77 in Norman through Spring
East and westbound SH-9 remains narrowed to one lane in each direction between 24th Ave. S.E. and 36th Ave. S.E. through Spring 2015. Delays are expected in this corridor. Drivers are asked to be alert to narrowed driving lanes and more frequent stops.
Drivers can expect various lane closures on north and southbound I-35 at Airport Rd. in Purcell from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily Monday through Friday through August for bridge work. A detour on US-77 is in place.
The eastbound I-44 (runs north) off-ramp SH-37 West is closed through September for a bridge overlay project. Drivers must locate an alternate route.
Drivers can expect various lane closures on north and southbound Portland Ave. between Reno Ave. and N.W. 23rd. St. from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through fall for sidewalk repairs. Drivers should expect congestion and plan for extra travel time.
