OKLAHOMA CITY – Emergency crews are cleaning up a stretch of I-44 in Oklahoma City after a semi overturned early Friday morning.
It’s happening at I-44 between Kelley Ave. and Martin Luther King Ave.
East and westbound I-44 are now narrowed to two lanes in each direction between Kelley Ave. and Martin Luther King Ave.
Crews estimate the cleanup will continue through the rush hour and into the late morning.
Drivers can expect significant traffic delays and are strongly encouraged to avoid the area and use an alternate route, such as I-35, I-235/US-77 and I-40.
One person was taken to the hospital.
Troopers say a second person was trapped in the semi, but emergency crews were able to get that person out.
Investigators say the semi crashed into a cable barrier forcing it to roll over into the center median.
