Mistake on Sonic sign leads to big donation to church

BURLINGTON, N.C. – A mistake on a Sonic Drive-In sign has turned into a miracle for a non-profit that feeds the homeless.

According to WGHP, Sonic restaurants nationwide had a deal where they sold corn dogs for 50 cents each.

However, at the Sonic in Burlington, North Carolina, instead of advertising 50 cent corn dogs, they advertised “.50 cent” corn dogs, meaning each corn dog would cost half a penny.

One man decided to cash in on this amazing deal.  He ordered 2,000 corn dogs to donate to Allied Churches of Alamance County.

Although the manager of the Sonic realized the sign was a mistake, he decided to honor the man’s order anyway.

Allied Churches says they are grateful to the anonymous man who made the donation.

“We are feeding a lot of people every single day,” said Sara Beth Puckett, a development associate for Allied Churches. “We’re serving 300 meals a day. So we’re always in need of food. Always.”

As for the Sonic, the manager says his employees will be more careful with their decimals next time.
