Samaje Perine ran his way into the record books after rushing for 427 yards in OU's 44-7 win over Kansas on Saturday, November 22.

The performance now ranks as the single game rushing record in Football Bowl Subdivision history.

Perine also became the first FBS player to run for 200 yards in both halves of a single game.

The freshman from Pflugerville, Texas said former Sooner running backs Adrian Peterson and Demarco Murray reached out and congratulated him after the game.

Perine said, Wisconsin running back and the previous NCAA record holder, Melvin Gordon contacted him to offer some advice on how to deal with the sudden fame that comes with the accomplishment.

Watch the report above from Nate Feken on how Perine doesn't plan to change who he is after his record-setting performance.
