NEW YORK – A 30-year-old man has been charged with killing his hedge fund father after police sources say his allowance had been cut.
According to PIX11, 70-year-old Thomas Gilbert Sr. was found shot to death in his apartment in New York on Sunday.
On Monday, 30-year-old Thomas Gilbert Jr. was charged in his father’s murder. He was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Police believe Gilbert Jr. murdered his father after his allowance was cut.
“He was getting $3,000 a month and it was being cut to $2,800 a month,” according to the police source.
Gilbert Sr. is the founder of a $200 million hedge fund, Wainscott Capital Partners.
