OKLAHOMA CITY - Police were called to a fatal shooting in northeast Oklahoma City Monday night.

Flashing lights flooded the east side near Northeast 23rd and Martin Luther King Ave.

"At about 7 p.m. we received a call stating shots fired in the area," Ofc. Chris Brown with OKC Police said.

Police drove up to find a person dead in the parking lot of the AutoZone

"We find that we have one male victim deceased," Brown said.

Witnesses, who would not go on camera, describe seeing an argument near a green car.

"This is a situation that's going to take some time to get resolved," Brown says. "It's unfortunate that crime happens but we're going to do what's necessary."

Officials closed off parts of northeast 23rd in the area until they could clear the scene.

On Wednesday, Oklahoma City Police identified the victim as 33-year-old Delbert Gaines.

Police are still trying to piece together what happened.
