NORMAN, Okla.- A vicious fire burned down a popular Norman restaurant Monday morning.
S&B Burger Joint was in a historical building near the intersection of Main St. and James Garner.
"It's kind of depressing right now," said Shannon Roper.
Roper was one of the first people on the scene as he watched his business go down in smoke.
"It's a great little spot, we loved this corner, the building and Norman. It's such a cool town," said Roper.
The popular S&B Burger Joint had a prime spot on Main St., not far from Campus Corner.
Norman fire crews quickly realized the flames were too intense and the building would collapse.
"At that point in time, you're putting a tremendous amount of weight inside this structure. You don't have any firefighters inside when you do that,” said Deputy Chief Jim Bailey, with the Norman Fire Department.
Fortunately, nobody was inside at the time of blaze.
Investigators are now busy searching for what started the fire.
"Of course, you never want to lose a business. It's tax dollars, it's someone's livelihood and all the work there, so that is a sad loss," said Bailey.
However, business owners are already planning ahead for the future.
"I imagine just getting it cleaned up, trying to keep the other places going right and see what happens after that. Hopefully get rebuilt in Norman, that's our plan," said Roper.
Crews had to open up Coach’s Brewhouse next door to let some water out.
