LEFLORE COUNTY, Okla. (KFSM) – An Oklahoma family was shocked by what they found inside their barn late last month.

Authorities were called to the family’s barn after they found a coffin with a human skeleton inside it.

Deputy Rebecca Hendrix, with the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office, said the skeleton is around 100-years-old.

Hendrix says the skeleton was owned by the original property owner, who said it was one of two he purchased from the Independent Order of Odd Fellows about 15 years ago.

The skeleton was fused with wires, so many people believe an autopsy was already performed on it.

Deputies told KFSM that they are trying to raise funds for a proper burial once it gets back to the department.

The skeleton was sent to the medical examiner’s office in Tulsa for identification.
