BROKEN BOW, Okla. - The funeral for Trooper Nicholas Dees was held at Broken Bow High School Saturday afternoon. Lawmen from all over the state were in attendance.

Hundreds mourned as the Oklahoma Highway Patrol presented the American Flag to his family.

Dees and Trooper Keith Burch were struck by a car while working a semi-truck accident last weekend on I-40.

Another man involved in that crash, 29-year-old Steven Clark, is facing Manslaughter in the First Degree. The crime carries a minimum of four years in prison and a maximum of life in prison.

"It was the charge that fit the evidence," District Attorney Chris Ross said.

DA Chris Ross says he filed the charge just minutes after seeing dash cam video from Trooper Keith Burch’s patrol unit

"That was all I needed to see," Ross said.

He says Burch’s car was parked to protect oncoming traffic from hitting the crashed semi. On the back of the unit was a flashing arrow instructing drivers to move over.

"The video shows car after car doing exactly what they're supposed to do," Ross said.

Ross says except for Clark

"His vehicle went left at a high rate of speed instead of right at a slow rate of speed,” Ross said.  "Tragic that it happened, but people don't always exercise care when they are driving.”

On Monday, Steven Clark was arraigned on the charges related to the death of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper.

During the arraignment, Clark's bond was increased to $100,000.

The district attorney's office says additional charges are possible in the case.

Trooper Dees is survived by his wife and two children.

Governor Mary Fallin has ordered flags to fly at half-staff through Monday in his honor.
