MOORE, Okla. - A Moore father allegedly dropped his baby in the middle of the street while he was running from police.
Monday afternoon police received a tip that a man was trying to sell stolen merchandise to local pawn shops.
When they arrived at the Cash Now Pawn Shop, they found Christopher McDonald trying to sell a brand new weed eater.
Police say McDonald was carrying his baby in a carrier when they asked him to step outside to answer a few questions.
Officials say that's when McDonald ran away.
According to police, after a short distance, McDonald dropped the baby and continued running.
"That individual became nervous, ended up running with the baby in a carrier a short distance away dropped the baby in the carrier. " Sergeant Jeremy Lewis said.
A Cash Now employee says she watched it all happen.
"He'll sacrifice the baby to save his own skin," employee Leslie Travis said.
He didn't get far before police took him down.
"It's kind of upsetting that someone would be willing to drop their child in the middle of the road while trying to get away from police while committing a felony." Lewis said.
The man was taken into custody and is facing charges for concealing stolen property and child endangerment.
