OKLAHOMA CITY – A deputy is recovering after being involved in a head-on crash in Oklahoma City.

On Monday morning, Sgt. Jeff Hardin, with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office, was driving southbound on N. MacArthur Blvd. near N.W. 46th St.

Around 1:20 a.m., Hardin saw a truck cross the center line and attempted to avoid a crash.

However, the truck hit his patrol car head-on.

According to the department’s Facebook page, the driver of the pickup truck had bloodshot eyes, appeared tired, smelled of alcohol and his speech was slurred.

Hardin and the driver, 20-year-old Antonio Serna, were taken to the hospital.

Hardin suffered only minor injuries, while Serna was medically cleared.

He was arrested on complaints of reckless driving and driving under the influence with personal injury.
