Konawa Public Schools cancel classes due to “possible safety concern”

KONAWA, Okla. – Konawa Public Schools cancelled classes for the day due to a “possible safety concern.”

Police say an indirect threat to the school had been made via text message.

At this time, there is no word where the call came from, but we do know the Konawa Public Schools Superintendent cancelled classes for the day due to a “possible safety concern to the city of Konawa.”

Parents received a voicemail that said that while officials do not believe this is a credible threat, they are cancelling classes just to be safe.

Officials say the Oklahoma County Bomb Squad assisted with investigating the threat.

Authorities went through the school and several businesses in Konawa and found no evidence of any threat.

Classes at Konawa Public Schools will resume Tuesday morning.
