CLAREMORE, Okla. — The family of an Oklahoma firefighter who died during a water rescue has recovered a precious keepsake.

Captain Jason Farley died during a water rescue Sunday.

Farley was one of seven Claremore Fire Department personnel working to save residents from flash flooding at Archer Court.

Fire Chief Sean Douglas says Farley fell into an area near a storm drain. That’s where he was found Sunday morning.

One thing that could not be found- Farley’s helmet.

The call to keep an eye out for the red helmet went out on Facebook Wednesday morning.

It was shared over 1,300 times.

It didn’t take long for the good word to come down that the helmet had been recovered.

The find will hopefully bring some small comfort to Captain Farley’s family during a very difficult time.
