PAWNEE COUNTY, Okla. – A state highway employee is dead after he was hit by a falling sign on a county highway.
Authorities say 53-year-old Jerald Warden was directing a dump truck that was filling a sinkhole on US 412 near Leroy road when the accident happened.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a bungee cord that was securing a stop sign in the bed of the dump truck broke, causing the sign to fall and strike Warden in the neck.
He was transported to the hospital where he later died.
