CHEROKEE, Okla. – A county commissioner and his wife were arrested earlier this week on drug charges.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents say they arrested Alfalfa County district one county commissioner Doug Murrow and his wife, Brandelynn Murrow, at their home in Cherokee, Oklahoma.

Alfalfa County Sheriff’s Office deputies issued a search warrant at the couple’s home earlier in the day.

Doug was arrested for giving a firearm to a convicted felon and possession of a controlled dangerous drug within 1000 feet of a school.

His wife, Brandelynn, was arrested for possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction and possession of a controlled dangerous drug within 1000 feet of a school.

OSBI officials say a judge released Doug Murrow on his own recognizance and set Brandelynn’s bond at $5,000.

In mid June, the Alfalfa County district attorney requested OSBI investigate potential criminal activity by the county commissioner.
