OKLAHOMA CITY — EMSA issued a Heat Alert on July 23, and an alert is still in effect.
EMSA dispatchers have received 61 emergency calls due to heat related illnesses.
Most of the patients have been transported to hospitals in good condition, according to EMSA.
Although the temperatures have dropped today, there were 2 heat related injuries within the last 24 hours, so the Heat Alert will stay in effect until further notice.
Rains in Oklahoma are creating high humidity, so EMSA urges extreme caution when you’re outdoors or in an environment with inadequate air conditioning.
