OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma is currently ranked 3rd in the country for the number or women killed in domestic violence crimes, according to the Violence Policy Center.
Now, women and children trying to escape domestic violence in Oklahoma have a place to seek shelter and safety.
The YWCA Thelma Gaylor Emergency Shelter is a 27,000 square-foot facility can hold 120 women and children.
There is a state-of-the-art security monitoring system for the safety of those involved. There is also a clinic for on-site medical care, a children’s counseling area, group therapy, and a game room and playground to encourage family playtime.
