Sgt. Cole is credited with saving a man's life.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Thousands of people are praising an Oklahoma City police officer after he risked his own life to save another.

On Saturday, Sgt. Jacob Cole was called to S.E. 89th St. to check on the welfare of an individual.

When he arrived, a man was standing on the I -35 bridge, threatening to jump off.

Sgt. Cole tried talking the man down while inching closer to him.

When the man started to leap from the bridge, Sgt. Cole grabbed the man’s shirt.

He dangled from the bridge for a short time before Sgt. Cole and two Norman officers, who just happened to be in the right place at the right time, helped the man back up to safety.
