SEATTLE – A dangerous challenge that is spreading online almost cost a Washington state teen his life.

Skylar Fish and his friends were reenacting a challenge they saw online called the "Duct Tape Challenge."

One teen wraps another in duct tape and times the other to see how long it takes them to escape.

Skylar's mother, Sarah Fish, told Q13Fox that her son had his arms and legs wrapped tight with duct tape, lost his balance and then hit his head on a concrete and metal window frame.

The teen boy shattered his eye socket and cheekbone.

The fall also caused bleeding on his brain that required immediate surgery.

Sarah Fish says her son is lucky to be alive.

“If he would have hit on it differently, an inch over, he could have died,” Sarah told Q13Fox.

Skylar and his mom want to warn others about the dangers of this game that teens are trying all over the country.

"They’re just looking at what’s fun, what’s cool, what's going to impress their friends. 'I can break out of this duct tape. I'm the strongest. I’m the best.' They’re not thinking what if I fall and hit my head," Sarah Fish told Q13Fox.
