DAYTON, Ohio – The pastor of a Baptist church in Ohio was shot and killed at the church on Sunday.

According to WHIO, Rev. William Schooler, 70,  was at St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church when he was shot and killed by his brother.

Police arrested 68-year-old Daniel Schooler for the crime.

Witnesses told WHIO that the shooting happened at the pulpit while the choir was singing.

“He had deep roots in the community,” said Ronnie Moreland. “He was a beloved leader. It’s hard to put into words what has happened.”

According to court records, Daniel Schooler has several arrests for violent attacks and “may be mentally ill.”

At this time, police have not released a motive for the shooting.
