Two teens arrested in connection to home invasion that left one suspect dead

CLEVELAND COUNTY, Okla. – Authorities have arrested two teens in connection to a home invasion in Cleveland County that left one suspect dead.

Detectives with the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office said multiple suspects broke into a home in the 1000 block of 192nd Avenue N.E. around 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 13.

When they got on scene, they found one suspect dead on the property.

Investigators released a sketch of the deceased suspect to the media, hoping someone would be able to identify him.

A few days later, officials say they were able to confirm with the family that the deceased suspect is Derek Seth Stewart, 18, of McAlester.

On March 3, the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office announced they have two other suspects accused in the home invasion in custody.

Nicholas Bennett Adkins, 18, and another 17-year-old male. KFOR has chosen not to identify the 17-year-old due to the fact he is underage.

Officials say detectives recovered evidence at both individuals homes that was allegedly stolen during the home invasion on Feb. 13.

Both suspects were booked into the Cleveland County Detention Center on complaints of first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, using an offensive weapon in felony and discharging a firearm into a dwelling.

Authorities say they are still investigating the incident and more arrests are possible.
