EDMOND, Okla. - Authorities have identified the two victims killed who were killed after a tragic car crash in Edmond.
Just after 1 p.m. on April 17th, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a SUV driving northbound on I-35 near Covell Rd. crossed the center median and drove into oncoming traffic.
That is when officials say the SUV drove head-on into a mini-van.
The driver of the SUV, 35-year-old David Stephen Blair II, and his passenger were both transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
The two people in the mini-van, 43-year-old Philip John Hess and a two-year-old girl , were pronounced dead at the scene.
"Investigators do believe the car that crossed the center median was well above the speed limit. It was raining at the time this occurred, that just added to the cause of the crash," OHP Captain Paul Timmons said.
The area was shut down for hours until crews could clear the scene.
Investigators are still working to determine what caused Blair to cross the median and drive into oncoming traffic.
