Oklahoma feels the Bern at the DNC
PHILADELPHIA– Delegates from Oklahoma cast their vote for the Democratic presidential nominee on Tuesday night at the Democratic National Convention.
Senator Bernie Sanders took 22 votes, while Secretary Clinton gathered the remaining 20.
In March, Sanders had won the state Democratic primary, taking 51.9 percent of the votes.
This vote follows Sanders’ Monday night address to his supporters, telling them to back Hillary Clinton as the next president of the United States.
“Any objective observer will conclude that — based on her ideas and her leadership — Hillary Clinton must become the next president of the United States,” Sanders told delegates.
Following boos from his California supporters he chastened , “Our job is to do two things — to defeat Donald Trump and to elect Hillary Clinton,” then added, “It is easy to boo, but it is harder to look your kids in the face if we are living under a Trump presidency.”
