ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A horrific case of child abuse in New Mexico has led to three arrests.

Early Wednesday morning, officers were called to an altercation at an apartment complex. While at the apartment, authorities discovered the body of a 10-year-old girl.

Officials told KOB that 31-year-old Fabian Gonzales, 35-year-old Michelle Martens and 31-year-old Jessica Kelley are accused of torturing and raping the girl.

“They injected this little girl with methamphetamines to make her calm down so they could do what they wanted to do to this little girl,” said Tanner Tixier, with the Albuquerque Police Department.

At that point, authorities allege the group stabbed and strangled the girl to death.

The department has not released the victim’s name, but says Martens is the girl’s mother.

All three suspects are charged with kidnapping, child abuse resulting in death and tampering with evidence. Gonzales and Kelley also face rape charges.
