Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper accused of abusing 4-year-old boy

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper is accused of abusing a 4-year-old boy.

Trooper John Michael Moore is on administrative leave after hitting his girlfriend’s child, KJRH reports.

Court documents state Moore was spending the night at his girlfriend’s house when the woman’s 4-year-old son said he was having trouble sleeping.

The boy reportedly told his mom he couldn’t sleep alone because he was scared.

Moore then reportedly told his girlfriend he would “take care of it.”

That is when officials say Moore hit the child with a Frisbee several times, leaving bruises and breaking the Frisbee.

A doctor who examined the boy found bruises across the 4-year-old’s back, side and leg, KJRH reports. He also had a bruise on his face.

The boy told the doctor that he was hit with a “ninja turtle” and a “school bus,” court documents state.

The boy’s mother told police that she knew Moore spanked the child, but didn’t know the extent of the injuries.

The trooper is facing charges for felony child abuse.

OHP has since opened an internal investigation, KJRH reports.
