LINCOLN COUNTY, Okla. – Authorities in Lincoln County are searching for a man who is on the loose and wanted for murder.
“It raises the threat that this guy is kind of at the end of his ropes and he's out here with a rifle so we don't know what to expect,” Sheriff Charlie Dougherty said.
It all started when the D.A. task force was trying to issue an arrest warrant.
"When we pulled into the driveway, one of our suspects was standing out there with a rifle in his hand, as units approached he took off running into the woods with the rifle,” Dougherty said.
Jeremy Tyson Irvine is facing a first degree murder charge in the death of Robert Godwin.
Godwin was found dead in a rural area near Stroud back in July.
"We've called in additional units, we've got Oklahoma Highway Patrol. We've got members of the DA's task force, Chandler Police Department,” Dougherty said.
Dougherty says they’re sending a drone up to widen the search, and they’re trying to spread the word to people who live in the around surrounding Tryon.
"We don't know what frame of mind he's in right now. So, we just want people to know why we're out here and why we want him and hopefully this will all end pretty soon,” Dougherty said.
Authorities say if you do see Irvine, don’t approach him but immediately call 911.
