On Saturday, September 17, third-ranked Ohio State visits #14 Oklahoma in a showdown between two of college football's richest traditions.
It will be the first time the Buckeyes have played OU in exactly 33 years.
On September 17, 1983, Ohio State beat the Sooners 24-14 at Owen Field in Norman.
Buckeyes quarterback Mike Tomczak threw a pair of touchdown passes to tight end John Frank as Ohio State took a 14-0 lead and never trailed in the game.
OU's two touchdowns came on a 37-yard run by freshman Spencer Tillman, who scored his first collegiate touchdown on the play.
The other Sooner TD was a 22-yard touchdown pass from Danny Bradley to Derrick Shepard.
OU running back Marcus Dupree injured his knee in the second quarter and had to leave the game.
Oklahoma went on to finish 8-4 that season.
Ohio State's win avenged a loss to the Sooners in their only previous meeting in 1977 in Columbus.
