“If I have a permanent home, they can’t really give me back,” Loving teen looking for a family

OKLAHOMA - Mary Kate is a loving Oklahoma teen who craves a permanent and stable home.

Since she was just 5 years old, Mary Kate has been in DHS custody.

For the past nine years, she has been moved around in foster homes and is currently in her eighth home.

"I just want a permanent, permanent home," Mary Kate said. "If I have a permanent home, they can't really give me back."

It's a tough message to come from a 14-year-old girl who just started high school.

Mary Kate is already involved in Junior ROTC, enjoys riding bicycles and loves fashion design.

In fact, she has already made clothes for herself.

"I either want to be a veterinarian or a fashion designer," Mary Kate said.

Mary Kate loves animals and is a natural with pets.

"Animals just like think they're safe with me even if they don't even know me," she said.

She said she hopes to have a pet of her own one day and a sibling.

"I feel like I should be the big sister, because like I'm good with little babies and toddlers. They listen to me, and they really like me," she said.

If you're interested in adopting Mary Kate or learning more about the adoption process, DHS would love to hear from you.
