OKLAHOMA CITY – Travelers to Will Rogers World Airport may soon see an increase in parking fees to help pay for several planned projects.

On Friday, the Oklahoma City Airport Trust adopted a resolution to increase the rates of all parking facilities at the airport.

Now, the resolution will head to the city council for approval.

If approved, travelers can expect to pay more for parking, anywhere from $1 to $2 more per day.

In return, those extra fees will help add additional parking spaces, offering more options for flyers.

“Unfortunately, you have to have a way to pay for these improvements but I think one of the things people need to understand is the prices at Will Rogers World Airport have been traditionally low for a very long time,” said Karen Carney, public information & marketing manager with Will Rogers World Airport.

For the airport’s remote parking, the long-term service lot and the canopy parking, fees will increase by $1 per day.

The garage parking is going up $2 per day.

“The rate increases across all of the lots will bring in an additional $2 million per year,” said Carney.

If the city council approves the changes, the airport hopes to implement the new fees starting Nov. 1.
