OKLAHOMA CITY – A private plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Oklahoma City this morning after the plane experienced a mechanical failure.

Just before sunrise, a twin-engine King Air radioed in to the Wiley Post tower with an in-flight emergency.

The pilot told air traffic controllers that he had a mechanical failure, possibly a loose cowling.

The tower contacted the Oklahoma City Fire Department which quickly responded with multiple crews.

The fire crews arrived on scene shortly before the plane landed.

Officials say everything went silent as the plane touched down.

The silence was broken when the plane landed safely.

The pilot shut down one engine and taxied the aircraft to a safe location.

The pilot and the three passengers on board the plane are all safe, officials say.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
