LEXINGTON, Ky. – An employee at a Kentucky daycare is being cited for assault after children were sent home with bruises.

An inspection report obtained by LEX 18 claims that two male staff members at New Creation Child Care told the children that in order to get a snack, they would have to be hit on the leg or hand with a ruler.

“The teacher said, ‘If you want a yogurt, you have to stand up and get hit on the hand or the leg.’ Everyone lined up to get a hit. Some kids were crying about it,” one child told investigators in the report.

Investigators say one employee admitted to hitting more than 20 of the children with a ruler while playing the ‘smack for a snack’ game.

Jamar Hall was cited for second-degree assault, according to LEX 18.
