Manhunt continues for Oklahoma fugitive accused of violent multi-county crime spree including murder

Norman man arrested after officers allegedly find stolen guns, police scanner inside his home


NORMAN, Okla. – A Norman man was arrested on an array of charges after police say they found stolen guns and police scanners inside his home.

On Sept. 26, officers with the Norman Police Department were trying to serve a search warrant when they spotted the alleged suspect getting into a car.

When they tried to speak to the man, the police report states that he backed up and hit a vehicle before driving away.

Officers say the driver, Christopher Hayes, led them on a chase before jumping out of the vehicle and running away.

While searching Hayes’ home, detectives reportedly found stolen weapons, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a police scanner.

A warrant was issued for Hayes’ arrest on multiple charges including:

  • Trafficking a controlled dangerous substance
  • Possession of a firearm while committing a felony
  • Leaving the scene of an accident
  • No tax stamp
  • Unlawful use of a police radio
  • Maintaining a dwelling where controlled drugs are kept
  • Knowingly concealing stolen property
  • Possession of surveillance equipment in the commission of a felony
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities with the City of Norman say Hayes turned himself in on Sept. 29.
