STILLWATER, Okla. - It started with an auction, an old box and two jars of relish.
"I kind of liked the box. Someone had purchased it with some other items," said Joel Hicks, Stillwater resident. "Asked the guy if he would sell the box. He said he would trade it for a couple jars of relish she had bought."
Inside the old box was an old camcorder.
Inside the camcorder was an old tape.
Soon, Hicks was transfixed by home movies - Christmas 1995 - of a family he'd never met.
"It was a pretty charming family in the video," Hicks said. "I kept hearing the name Uncle Tracy, which was the main one."
Turns out the camcorder was purchased back in the 80's, with the name Tracy Wilson proudly displayed on registration papers.
So, Hicks took to Facebook, hoping to find a needle in a Stillwater haystack, where he found Minda Wilson.
"Seeing it on there was kind of a heart jumping moment," Minda said. "He passed away in 2009, and it was just really nice to hear his voice again."
The video actually introduced her daughter, Jesa, to family members she never knew.
"Never met him, never heard him. But, in this video, I got to see him, got to hear him for the first time, and it was really amazing," she said.
It was a digital reunion two decades in the making, thanks to a kind heart and two jars of relish.
