Cowboys Sneak Past Iowa State

Oklahoma State looked to pick up their second straight win as they squared off with Iowa State.

The Cyclones took an early 3-0 lead on a Cole Netten 35 yard field goal.

OSU would get on the board next though when Mason Rudolph connected with Jhajuan Seales on a 33 yard touchdown, the Pokes had a 7-3 lead.

Iowa State responded with a three yard Jacob Park touchdown to Allen Lazard. Cyclones had a 10-7 advantage.

However, defense would help boost OSU in the second quarter. Auburn transfer Derrick Muncrief picked off a Jacob Park pass. That led to Mason Rudolph connecting with James Washington for 42 yards. The very next play, Justice Hill scored on a five yard touchdown run. OSU took the lead 14-10.

Iowa State is tops in the country in red zone offense and it showed as David Montgomery powered home a one yard touchdown to give the Cyclones a 17-14 lead. That would be how the half ended, with Iowa State on top by three.

OSU took the opening kickoff of the second half, but an incompletion on fourth and short allowed Joel Lanning to hit Trever Ryen for a 35 yard touchdown. All of the sudden, the Pokes trailed 24-14.

They weren't finished, Joel Lanning found Allen Lazard on an 18 yard touchdown which added to the Cyclones lead, 31-14. It was Lazard's second touchdown of the game.

OSU wouldn't go away, Mason Rudolph hit James Washington on a 35 yard touchdown strike to pull the Cowboys with 10.

The defense came up big, Carson Epps fumbled a reception which was recovered by the Cowboys. That second turnover led to more points. Mason Rudolph found Jalen McCleskey on a three yard touchdown and OSU pulled to within three points trailing 31-28.

Ben Grogan would kick a field goal to tie it and the Cowboy defense held after that. That set up a 2 yard touchdown pass from Mason Rudolph to James Washington. Washington's second of the game and OSU would hang on to that 38-31 lead to win.

Rudolph passed for 244 yards, 4 touchdowns and no interceptions. James Washington eight receptions, 152 yards.

The Cowboys have a bye week before facing off with Kansas on October 22nd.
