City council votes to fire Chickasha city manager immediately
CHICKASHA, Okla. – City leaders in one Oklahoma town are working to find a city manager following a decision by the city council.
On Monday, the Chickasha City Council voted to fire City Manager Alan Guard immediately.
It was decided that Chickasha Mayor Hank Ross will be the city manager until a replacement is found.
“It was a thoughtful but difficult decision for the City Council to proceed in this direction. The City Council appreciates Mr. Guard’s service to the City and the community while serving as City Manager and wishes him success in his future endeavors,” a statement from Mayor Ross read.
City leaders say they will begin searching for Guard’s permanent replacement immediately.
“It is obvious that there are many positive developments taking place in Chickasha. The City has a dedicated and hardworking leadership team that I will depend on in moving these projects forward” stated Ross. “Once we select a recruitment firm and get a timeline, the City Council will determine if we need to bring an interim full-time City Manager before a permanent replacement can be found.”
At this point, officials have not said what led up to the council’s decision.
