Oklahoma representative takes swipe at ‘Oilfield Prayer Day’
OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma representative is taking a swipe at a recent proclamation that asks Oklahomans to ‘pray for the oil and gas industry.’
Last month, Gov. Mary Fallin issued an official proclamation to declare Oct. 13 as “Oilfield Prayer Day.”
The proclamation asks Oklahomans to pray for the “blessings created by the oil and natural gas industry.”
In response, Oklahoma Rep. Richard Morrissette has his own idea for a proclamation.
“I think we should all pray on the 14th to have one day in Oklahoma when we have no earthquakes,” Morrissette quipped Wednesday. “Maybe the Good Lord will be listening on that day, too.”
In the past, Morrissette has asked the oil industry to come up with other ways of disposing of wastewater, rather than injecting it back into the ground.
