HOUSTON, Texas – Two small boys are recovering after a devastating wreck that claimed the life of their father.

Deputies tell KTRK that the boys were riding in a semi-truck with their father when the truck hit a guardrail and rolled.

The force of the crash threw a 5-year-old boy from the truck.

He told investigators that he went back to the wreckage and pulled his 2-year-old brother to safety.

Sadly, he could not reach his father in time.

According to KTRK, the truck caught fire, killing the man inside the cabin.

The 2-year-old boy suffered severe burns across his body and is currently being treated at a nearby hospital.

Investigators say the family was moving to a new home in Galveston, adding that the victim’s wife was driving ahead of the truck and had no idea about the accident.
