OKLAHOMA CITY – An early morning chase that ended in a crash caused authorities to shut down a busy highway.

On Friday morning, troopers were trying to stop a driver suspected of driving under the influence.

However, they say the driver kept heading westbound on I-40, nearly hitting a semi-truck.

Troopers then performed a tactical maneuver, causing the driver to hit a wall and roll over on the highway near I-40 and I-35.

Crews were able to get the driver out of the mangled wreckage and take him to a hospital.

Authorities were forced to close the highway for about an hour to clean up the scene.
