Oklahoma's football team is two wins away from a 10th Big 12 championship, but they have two challenging games, visiting West Virginia on Saturday, November 19, then hosting Oklahoma State on December 3.
We got a pretty good laugh at Monday's press conference, a reporter's phone went off to the tune of Jingle Bells. Coach Stoops had a reaction, and it was something along the lines of 'Really right now? Isn't it too early for the Christmas music?' Well Stoops is reflecting the OU mindset as the boys get ready to head into Morgantown. They've got one thing on their minds, it's championship November.
"It's not even Thanksgiving? At least you could wait to Thanksgiving right?"
"It's like you come down to the last few games of the season, and basically it's like a win or go home mentality. Because obviously if we don't win, then we're not going to win the championship and that's the ultimate goal right now and we put ourselves in a position like we did last year, where if we win out, it is championship November. It's not like we expect to be there, it's that we put ourselves in that situation and that's how we're handling it."
"All we're trying to do is have a great day today and get a good jump on our preparation for West Virginia and improve through the week, and hopefully be at our best when we go there this Saturday night."
"It's kind of funny how last year and this year is the same when it came to the month of November. Each week we have to win because it's it's closer and closer to the Big 12 championship. All our focus is West Virginia and we're doing everything we can to be prepared to win on Saturday."
It'll be a top 10 meeting between the Mountaineers and Sooners and with the Big 12 Title on the line, Championship November is in full swing. Reporting in Norman Nikki Kay Oklahoma's News Channel Four Sports
