OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma City Thunder player decided to give back to the community by helping Oklahomans in need have a great Thanksgiving.

“The OKC Thunder may be going on a road trip during Thanksgiving, but Enes wanted to spend his holiday purchasing and distributing turkeys to families,” said Kadir Akkir, community engagement director for Enes Kanter. “Enes Kanter Light Foundation places a great emphasis on helping the community, especially children through various ways, one of which is through education.”

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s Enes Kanter partnered with Sunbeam Family Services to host a Thanksgiving event on Saturday to benefit 40 families.

“For the parents and children we serve at Sunbeam Family Services, this event comes at the most perfect time,” said Erin Engelke, Sunbeam Family Services Chief External Relations Officer. “We’re incredibly thankful for Enes Kanter’s desire to step up and help those in our community who need it the most, allowing them to celebrate Thanksgiving together.”

During the event, Kanter served dinner and distributed fresh turkeys to the families.
