Former Oklahoma officer sentenced to probation for child abuse case
OKLAHOMA CITY — A former Oklahoma City police officer will not be sent to prison for abusing his 7-month-old foster child.
Last year, Jeremiah Thompson was accused of abusing his 7-month-old foster child after she suffered severe head trauma.
During Thompson’s preliminary hearing, doctors testified that the infant suffered extensive bleeding from her eyes.
Thompson claimed he accidentally dropped the baby, but experts said her injuries were consistent with being shaken.
Thompson was eventually fired from the Oklahoma City Police Department.
This year, Thompson accepted an Alford plea in the child abuse case.
He was sentenced to five years of probation.
