Police respond to shooting in northwest Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY - A person was shot outside a busy metro grocery store Tuesday night.

The shooting was reported around 6:30 p.m. at the Crest near N.W. 23rd and Meridian.

Police said an employee was on his break, sitting outside the store, when a man drove up and shot him.

"The first thing I thought was I got to get up out of here, you know, I'm worried about my 'safetyness' and I'm not trying to get killed," said Jeremy Walker, a witness.

As people ran away, the victim ran inside to call for help.

"We do have a victim that has non-life threatening injuries. He's been transported to the hospital but expected to survive," said Lt. Jeff Spruill with OCPD.

Officers said the shooting was not random and the victim knows who the suspect is.

Police and customers are just thankful no one else was hurt.

"It's very lucky. We can be very grateful that none of the customers here were shot," Spruill said.

The suspect drove away in a white car.

The vehicle is reportedly described as a 1997 Lincoln or Cadillac.
