ANTIOCH, Calif. – A dinner for hundreds of people in California with nowhere to go on Thanksgiving may have led to several deaths.
According to WPVI, officials say a Thanksgiving meal served to 835 people may be linked to three deaths and several other illnesses.
Officials say the meal was hosted by a church and was served at the Antioch American Legion Center.
Health experts say eight patients started showing up at Sutter Delta Medical Center with symptoms of food poisoning the next day.
In all, three people died.
The eight patients all lived at the same assisted living facility and ate the dinner, so experts are not sure if it was the dinner or something in their environment that made them sick.
