Sergeant loses eye after being kicked by alleged drunk driver

PIMA COUNTY, Ariz.- A sergeant with a sheriff’s department in Arizona lost his eye after an encounter with an alleged drunk driver.

On Saturday, deputies pulled over 28-year-old Yesennia Gonzalez after they believed that she may have been driving while under the influence.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department says that as deputies were trying to put Gonzalez into a patrol car, she deliberately began kicking them.

At one point, investigators say Gonzalez kicked Sgt. Mark Bustamante in his left eye with the heel of her boot.
