WYTHEVILLE, Va. – A man who played Santa Claus at a pet shop is now being investigated by the Virginia Department of Corrections.
According to WDBJ, Leonard Kidd was convicted of aggravated sexual battery against a minor and assault and battery of a police officer in 2002.
After being released from prison last year, officials say Kidd had to register as a sex offender and was told to stay away from events where children may be present.
However, officials allege that he posed for pictures with pets and children inside a Virginia Petco while posing as Santa Claus.
The company released a statement, saying that Kidd “is no longer at Petco and we are cooperating with local law enforcement.”
