OKLAHOMA CITY - Police are asking for the public’s help to track down a murderer.

Investigators said someone attacked 7-year-old Keagon Bruce and his mother, 40-year-old Julie Mason, inside their home and, then, set it on fire to cover up the crime.

Bruce's good friend, Justin Deemy, found out what happened Monday morning.

“It’s hard. We hung out a lot during the summer. He would come by pretty much every day,” Deemy said.

The two met last year and were fast friends.

It was Bruce’s fun spirit Deemy liked the most.

“Keagon was very adventurous,” Deemy said.

He can’t understand who would want to hurt his friend and his mother.

In the light of day, there are more questions about what happened in the dark early morning hours.

Crews made it to the home on N.W. 80th just before 5 o'clock.

There were heavy flames coming from the front of the house.

While of putting out the fire, crews found Bruce and Mason’s body in a back bedroom.

Mason had already died.

Bruce was rushed to the hospital but didn't make it.

“Yesterday, I was going through the grieving stage, and that's only because I thought it was an accident. After today, I'm shocked. Who would do such a thing?” Deemy said.

Investigators are asking that question too but said the fire makes answering it that much harder.

“Between the fire, the smoke, water damage and fire fighters being in there doing what they have to do, it just means that the crime scene, it has some damage,” said Bennie Fulkerson, OKC Fire Department.
