PONCA CITY, Okla. – A woman was injured after being hit by a train early Friday.
Around 6:54 a.m., 20-year-old Yvonne Adams was traveling in Ponca City near the Albany Crossing when she was struck by a train.
Officials say Adams drove around the crossing arms as the train was approaching and was struck on the passenger side.
Adams was transported to an Oklahoma City hospital via air ambulance with extensive injuries.
The Ponca City Police Department and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
The railroad crossing remains closed while crews work to clear the scene.
